The Senate House on Malet Street is the headquarters of the University of London. The structure is surprisingly large for the neighborhood, rising in tiers above the surrounding buildings. With its imposing white facade, it is thought to be the inspiration for architecture of the four ministries in Nineteen Eighty-Four. As Alan Allport points out here, during WWII it was the headquarters of the Ministry of Information.
